Pioneer SA-9500 Service Date finished:12/14/21 Initial assessment: -Cut AC cord -Bad Power switch -Intermittent audio output in both channels -Hum at output from P. S ripple -Failed power indicator bulb Service notes: -Closely checked soldering joints on all boards with high powered magnifying glass and re-soldered 10-15 suspect joints -Replaced AC Power Cord -Replaced Power switch with high quality ALPS TV-4 Switch -Thoroughly inspected all boards for burning or corrosion: good -Upgraded all electrolytic caps on Amp board to high temp nichicon low esr -Upgraded all electrolytic caps on Power supply board go slightly higher capacitance value nichicon low esr, for improved ripple filtration -Buffed/cleaned output relay contacts -Replaced failed power indicator bulb with wired red led -Cleaned and exercised all controls, switches, and trimmers three times then applies finish oil to prevent future oxidation -Calibrated amp dc offset, and bias -Final bench test: ran unit 3hr From the owner's manual:... The Pioneer SA-9500 does deliver an unusually large continuous power output of 80 watts per channel, min RMS at 8 ohms from 20 Hertz to 20,000 Hertz with no more than 0.1% total harmonic distortion, but it also ensures that even when operated at low volumes the performance retains a crisp, sparkling clarity. The dynamic response and reliability of the SA-9500 are matched with a flexibility of use you'll rarely find in this price range.
