It will hold its own, if not easily surpass. THIS GFA-555 Pro IS SPECIAL & EXTREMELY RARE. This is your chance to own part of the early days of Adcom history. This GFA-555 pro was one of the first built. I have completely restored it to its original beauty.
In keeping with its originality I left the line in adjusting pots in the front and are operational. What I done, is convert the phono plug unbalanced inputs to unbalanced RCA inputs. I changed out the first amplifier devices with a matched pair of devices thereby lowering the DC offset to a very low 1.5 & 1.3 mv. I have installed heat sinks on all the driver transistors for longevity. I changed out all the capacitors on the audio driver board with audio grade.
I have installed on the rail capacitor new top hats PCBs. This unit has a factory installed IEC power receptacle. I upgraded the audio drivers on the output modules with higher breakdown voltage devices. This unit also accepts balanced inputs. It has push ckt breakers on the front so no fuses to worry about replacing. I have personally been completely through the internals of this GFA-555 Pro power amp, insuring everything is to factory spec's. (just check the pictures) I leave no stone unturned. This unit (after initial check out on a Sencore PA-81 analyzer) has undergone hours of testing under load, driven by a Carver CD TL-3200 music source, into a Harman Kardon 825 preamp and pair of Paradigm Esprit B/P 8 ohm 300 w Towers. PLEASE NOTE: When I refurbish a amplifier, I dont just repair the problem and sell it. I completely disassemble it, meticulously clean everything, using Deoxit D-5 ® on all electro-mechanical connections that needs this process. I make the internals as close to new as possible, so that you will have many-many years of enjoyment from your new amp, without component failure.(Excluding shorted speaker wires, inferior speakers that cant handle the power, or turning up the volume to the degree that you can fry eggs on the rear heat sinks or blow out your windows) :. C1: listed 15,000 uF Tested 15,900 uF. Allowed leakage 9,000 uA Tested 350 uA. C2: listed 15,000 uF Tested 16,600 uF.

There is a few very minor scuffs on the faceplate, hard to see unless up close, but after 35 years you would have a few scuff mark on you too:. This GFA-555 Pro is bridgeable to operate in mono block mode, just by switching a small switch on the back plate. As always I pack everything with the best of materials, so as to thwart the gorilla UPS handlers. It will arrive alive and unscathed. And you will appreciate the effort when it arrives undamaged. Thank you, for reading all my verbiage this is one Fantastic Powerhouse of an amplifier in very excellent condition. Any issues you should have I take care of them, Pronto!
