Is there really anything to say about the NAD 3020 that hasn't already been said? A simple Wikipedia search will tell you everything and anything one could possibly have a question on. And whatever you may have heard about this amplifier, it all sounds like "fluff" until you have actually heard and experienced one.
Rated at 20 watts per channel with 3dB of headroom means that i. T is capable of delivering 40 watts into 8 ohm, 58 watts into 4 ohm, and 72 watts into 2 ohm loads for a limited time if pushed. It was in a high use listening station. As the pictures reveal, the front panel is very worn from constant use, however, the knobs and buttons are all original and not nearly as worn. Installed in a'user' location, there is some surface case scratches. I have no idea why. Included is the original Owners Manual AND the factory schematic which shows BOTH the original circuitry and the improved upgraded circuitry AND a complete list of the components changed in the 3020A from the 3020 and the reason for the change! Aside from some subtle improvements to the sound, the modifications changed the start-up delay from 5 seconds to apx 2 seconds.Again, I have no idea why this was done but who could argue with NAD. It has been well maintained by an EE; capacitors have been changed out over the years as required (including the notorious c533), switches are smooth, clean and all function. Naturally, the potentiometers are all smooth and clean without any static.
Does it sound like it did in 1983, well I can't see how that would be possible even for the best maintained device; but it does sound very sweet. This unit is going i nexpensively as it is not in collector condition; however one of those is available at ID 314021486386.
