Shirley Laboratories TW 1515 pro STEREO Amplifier + Power supply Mullard 5/10

  

Available in the sale is an extremely rare Shirley Laboratories TW 1515 professional STEREO Tape recording and high fidelity integrated amplifier with external power supply and manual. Upon release (Early 60) the TW1515 was 96 gns which was very expensive indeed. In the above images there is an advert extolling the virtues of the amplifier in which Shirley Labs make clear the position they enjoyed in the market.

The lay out of the amplifier is very similar to Mullard 5/10s using Parmeko transformers and EL 84 tubes. From "The Tape Recorder", 1965. Wayne, the famous concert pianist and broadcasting star, will be giving live and recorded demonstrations in the Cosmocord Studios. Wayne is equally well known in the electronic field as the designer of the Shirley Laboratories TWA I5I5 amplifier, recently described in Hi-Fi News. A " shot in the arm " will be the theme of the demonstration by Audio Fidelity Records Ltd. Ridley will be in attendance, complete with white coat, stethoscope and hypodermic syringe. In terms of condition the units are exactly as seen, they have not been tested and will require work due to the nature of time on 50+ year old vintage equipment. The TW 1515 seems to have been adapted at some point with the addition of a pot to the top of the fascia? This is a rare unit with good provenance it may well be hard to find another in any condition.
