The Hafler P505 is the "pro" version of the classic Hafler DH-500. The P505 and the DH-500 are almost identical. Also, the P505 has left and right input level controls, not to be found on the DH-500. The P505 has external air filters, so no need to open the unit up just to replace the filters.
I just put fresh filters in on both sides. It is nominally 400 watts per channel into 4 ohms; however, I see folks reporting as much as 450 watts in actuality.
My experience with Hafler is mostly with the DH-500. Again, this P505 is virtually the same amp.
My DH-500 is pushing a pair of Acoustat 2+2 electrostatic towers. The Acoustats are very power-hungry (4 ohms), low-efficiency speakers. To my ears, plenty of headroom, without a trace of distortion. Original "Installation and Operation" manual included.
